In 2004, we interviewed scientist and sociologist Paul Ekman for a documentary we produced on The Pursuit of Happiness. In that interview, we established a connection with Paul Ekman so several years later, when he was writing a book with The Dalai Lama, he approached us in the hopes that we could place it in the hands of the right press. It turned out that we were the press coverage he was looking for because within the hour, we had secured that the interview would air on Weekend America on American Public Media's airwaves and Heart and Soul, a BBC World Service program reaching hundreds of millions of listeners.

We traveled to Pennsylvania and conducted the interview in person with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Dr. Paul Ekman. Many have asked what was one of the most special moments in the interview and it was at the end, when the Dalai Lama held our hands to his cheek, all the while laughing his emblematic laugh, a soft, open, and warm chuckle.

The interview aired in its entirety on stations in London, NY, and San Francisco. In the end, we produced three different versions of this interview. The version you can listen to here is the one produced for Weekend America.
